Adolf K. Weismann (アドルフ・K・ヴァイスマン, Adorufu Kei Vaisuman) is the main protagonist of the K anime series and the First and Silver King, formerly a researcher in Germany who experimented with the effects of the Dresden Slate. Years later, he was ejected from his original body by the Colorless King and has since inhabited the body of a male teenager in Japan. This event has left him amnesiac and resulted in Weismann assuming a new identity, Yashiro Isana (伊佐那 社, Isana Yashiro).

Appearance[]

Adolf

Weismann's original body.

Weismann was a tall man with a youthful complexion and had knee-length, silver hair and gray eyes. His hair was straight with a single lock that fell to the right side of his face and split into two parts. He wore a formal attire that consisted of an open, dark green double-breasted coat with large cuffs and four buttons outlining each storm patch on the fronts of the clothing. The buttons and the lining found on the sleeves and storm patches were moss green. Underneath his coat was a white shirt with a ruffled collar and center front. Weismann wore dark green pants that matched his coat and plain white shoes.

Several decades prior, Weismann's hair was shoulder-length and flipped outwards. His bangs were parted to frame both sides of his face. He wore the general uniform of German soldiers with a laboratory coat over it and a red and black armband over his left arm. Underneath his uniform was a yellow shirt and a green necktie.

Since he came to possess a new body and assume the identity of Yashiro Isana, Weismann came to appear as a thin male teenager of average height with messy, white hair and Light Brown eyes. Initially, he wore a navy blue Japanese school uniform over a long-sleeved white shirt, with a closed high-collared jacket and loose pants topped with brown shoes. However, after unofficially enrolling at Ashinaka High School, he was given a new uniform to suit the regular look of the male students on the campus. It was composed of a long-sleeved white shirt with a red ribbon tied around his neck, rather than a normal necktie or bow tie, with a black, high-collar jacket on top that had the golden pin of Ashinaka High School attached to his left side. Yashiro wore matching pants that he kept rolled up above his ankles. He retained his brown shoes, but wore no socks with them.

Yashiro also gained possession of a red Japanese parasol at some point after. The handle was a light brown and on the top of the parasol, circling the end, there was a distinctive cross-like green pattern outlined with a golden trim.

After his body regenerates, Yashiro resides in the Schattenreich and wears his suit from his time as Weismann, however, the suit is tailored to his current body's measurements.

Adolf K. Weismann continuing his life.

By the end of the conflict, Weismann later returns to his original body with his hair being put in the same hairstyle that he had over seven decades ago.

Personality[]

During his years as a researcher, Weismann was very optimistic and encouraging of his experiments, believing that he and his sister's research would bring eventual happiness to the rest of the world. Despite his friendly attitude towards military officers such as Daikaku Kokujōji, Weismann opposed war and avoided it as much as he possibly could, even escaping from the world in the Himmelreich following what he believed was its end.

He retained most of his original personality after assuming a new body, such as being charismatic and very carefree. Yashiro deals with his identity loss very well by not questioning much, and instead just following his heart. He is very laid back and hopeless, but cooperates well with others. Yashiro is able to get along with almost everyone, whether it is people or animals or robots. He is kindhearted and is very open about his feelings to everyone. A positive side to his weird personality is that others easily trust him--but the negative side is that he trusts his life to total strangers as well. He has since developed something of a trickster side, such as telling Kuroh that he had a younger sister so that he can pull another stunt that made it appear that he had run away. For reasons such as this, Yashiro has also been called insincere or even a liar. He likes places like roofs, bridges, and places where there is a nice breeze, and doesn't hate anything in particular. His favorite food is plain rice,[2] and some of his hobbies include researching, joking, and eating.[4]

History[]

WeismannWithTheDresdenSlate

Weismann about to conduct a special experiment.

While Weismann was conducting research on the Dresden Slate in the titular city, Japanese Lieutenant Daikaku Kokujōji came to witness their experiments in the final year of World War II. Weismann used an experiment involving albino mice that triggered the effects of the Slate, thus creating potent Aura in the mice, with specific individuals developing their own Sword of Damocles.[5]

When the Lieutenant suggested using such power on humans to create powerful armies, Weismann interjected, believing that the Aura could be used to bring happiness instead. He expressed his thoughts on the matter to his sister Klaudia, who punished him for being too blatant in the presence of the Lieutenant. However, when the Japanese officer admitted to not understanding most of what they are saying, Weismann and his sister laughed.[5]

Crying Weismann

The tears in Weismann's eyes when he sees his dead sister.

One day, Dresden was bombed and left in complete ruins afterward. With his own Aura shrouding over his body and a Sword of Damocles hovering over his head, Weismann tearfully cradled his dead sister in his arms. As he sobbed for her, he noticed the Lieutenant running over to him and tried to explain what had happened.[5]

In April of the same year, Weismann met with the Lieutenant in open fields. He claimed that the war was over to him and bid farewell before moving forward to board the Himmelreich.[5]

YashiroClingingOntoTheBlimp

Yashiro barely holding on to the edge of the blimp.

Several years later, Weismann was visited by the Colorless King and they had a small, initially friendly conversation with one another. Weismann reminded the newly-made King that he no longer associates himself with the outside world. To his surprise, he is then knocked unconscious, later to awaken in a new body.[6] Through unknown circumstances, he was pushed to the edge of an open blimp. He barely manages to hold onto the aircraft and tries clinging on for his life. The Colorless King, who had since inhabited Weismann's original body, looked down upon him and kicked him out, causing Yashiro to plummet several hundred feet into a school gymnasium, causing a huge hole in the roof of the gymnasium. [7]

YashiroMeetsNeko

A confused Yashiro meets Neko for the first time.

He eventually crashed into an island at the shore of Shizume City, specifically on the campus of Ashinaka High School. He broke through the roof of the school's gymnasium and landed on a mattress-like object, completely unharmed. He rose from it and noticed a pink cat near him in the dark, hissing in annoyance. Yashiro apologized to the cat and it quickly became attached to him, hopping on his lap so that Yashiro can hold and stroke its fur.[7]

At that moment, the door to the outside opened and a teenage girl named Kukuri Yukizome entered the building. Yashiro is soon discovered and inquired about his name. He notices a poster for Ashinaka's upcoming festival and hesitantly said that he was Yashiro Isana. Kukuri slowly starts to recognize Yashiro as one of her classmates and accuses him of slacking off during the production for the school festival. Subsequently, when asked about the hole he made in the roof, he stated that he did not know what happened. However, Kukuri did not believe him.[7]

Since that night, Yashiro was led to believe that he was a high school student, and that he'd left his parents to go study at Ashinaka High School.[8]

Plot[]

K[]

Yashiro Resting

Yashiro resting after his lunch.

After getting rice for his lunch, Yashiro asks several of his classmates to share their lunch with him, to which they oblige. Afterwards, he goes across campus trying to get more people to share, even attempting to sneak food from the cafeteria. Once his bento is completely filled up, Yashiro heads to the rooftop of one of the school's buildings to eat his lunch. The pink cat from before accompanies him and also eats his meals. Yashiro lazily stretches his arms and says that Japan is a great place. He then takes a quick nap.[9]

KukuriWritesTheNotes

Kukuri writes down a list of items for Yashiro to get.

Yashiro then returns to class with the little cat. He notices that everyone is not studying and wonders why, only to learn that they're preparing for the school festival. Kukuri asks for someone to help run errands for the school council and Yashiro is chosen to do so. She attempts to send him a list through their PDAs, but Yashiro cannot find his, so she writes it down. Kukuri also tells him that he needs to find it otherwise he can't leave campus, but he tells her not to worry, taking the note with him. Yashiro finds a key to one of the doors inside campus and uses it to maneuver through security, rather than having to leave using a PDA. He then walks to the city on the bridge.[9]

YataAttacksYashiro

Yashiro attacked by a young male.

While in the city, he manages to purchase the items from a local store. While walking out, however, Yashiro is suddenly attacked by a male teenager with a skateboard and a baseball bat, causing him to drop the items and try to run for his life. He runs across town, hopping onto people's vehicles, and even crosses through alleys to get away. He is soon cornered into an alley where a blonde man attacks him with unusual fireballs, which he conjured from the sparks on the cigarettes he's been smoking. Luckily, a long-haired teenager arrives and saves Yashiro from the mysterious people.[9]

KurohMeetsYashiro

Yashiro is introduced to the former Colorless King's vassal.

The teenager takes Yashiro to the rooftop of another building just near the train station. Yashiro thanks the male and tries to go off on his way, but is prevented from doing so. The teenager introduces himself as Kuroh Yatogami and explains that he is the vassal of the Seventh King, Ichigen Miwa, and that he must also slay the "evil" King. Yashiro is confused by his words. He is even more confused when a video, depicting a man nearly identical to Yashiro, is shown across town through a network hijacking. Kuroh claims that the man in the video is Yashiro himself.[9]

Kuroh adds that under his master's orders, he will take Yashiro's life. Yashiro attempts to run away but is caught by Kuroh's Aura, suspending him in the air. A frightened Yashiro asks if Kuroh will actually kill an innocent man such as himself. He is then dropped but caught in Kuroh's arm. Yashiro continues arguing that he is actually innocent, though he is unable to convince the sword-wielding teenager.[10]

Trickster Isana

The fake note.

Yashiro seemingly gives up hope resisting and says that Kuroh can do whatever he wants with him as long as he grants him a final request. He is freed from Kuroh's grasp and explains that he has an ill younger sister, who has been hospitalized for most of her life, and that should he die, she would be left without a family. Yashiro asks to write a letter to her so that she will know he's not actually a murderer. Kuroh allows him and then asks to see the letter. Once he does, Yashiro sets off a barrage of flash bombs, using the distraction to seemingly run away. Kuroh runs off after him, though it turns out that Yashiro had quickly disguised himself in an animal suit during the distraction.[10]

Remaining disguised, Yashiro walks around town, completely unaware of the fact that a bounty with his face on it has been sent throughout the city. While walking about, he spots Kuroh again, and quickly retreats. He heads to a rooftop and removes his disguise just before Kuroh and Misaki Yata, the same person who attacked him before, begin their fight. Yashiro tells Kuroh to meet him on the rooftop after he beats up Yata. However, he leaves before the fight ends.[10]

YashiroBlushingAtNakedNeko

Yashiro blushes at the sight of Neko.

Yashiro returns to his school and sneaks back in the dormitories. He lies on his bed, completely exhausted, with the pink cat resting beside him. Yashiro speaks aloud wondering who the people who attacked him are, as well as how the video came into place. He mutters that it will be hassling and hears someone responding to him. Yashiro turns around to see the pink cat gone, and instead, a naked human girl instead. Embarrassed, he jumps off his bed and asks who she is, only to be told that she is Neko. Yashiro picks up his jacket and tries handing it to Neko, but she refuses the piece of clothing.[10]

Yashiro Nearly Killed

Kuroh nearly pierces Yashiro.

He then hears Kukuri shouting out for him outside and goes to look. Yashiro sees Kuroh next to her, surprising him. Using his ability, Kuroh pulls himself up to Yashiro's dormitory. He draws his sword, attempting to kill him, but is distracted with Neko's nudity whilst before him. Neko takes this opportunity to run away with Yashiro.[10]

RunningAwayFromKuroh

Yashiro in the distorting hallway.

While running in the hallways outside his room, Yashiro throws his jacket on Neko, startling her. He then witnesses an abrupt change in the hallways; suddenly, Neko is further away from him. When she exits the building, it reverts to normal, surprising him. Yashiro continues following Neko throughout the campus while additionally avoiding Kuroh, who still strives to kill him. The three-way chase continues for the rest of the day and well into the night, lasting until morning, which by then has left them completely exhausted. They stop in Yashiro's room where everyone begins to show signs of hunger. Yashiro suggests that they end their conflicts to have breakfast and proceeds to make some, though he is unable to figure out how to cook his meals, as well as trying to cook food that appeals to Neko's picky tastes. However, Kuroh ends up cooking for the three of them, and they have breakfast together.[10]

KurohRecorderBreakfast

Yashiro listens as Kuroh plays a message from his recorder.

Most of the breakfast was filled with Yashiro asking various sorts of questions, such as having the soy sauce passed to him or what Kuroh's recorder was. However, one of the things he also inquires about are the HOMRA members who chased him before. Though confused throughout the entire explanation, Yashiro does understand that they are Red Clansmen led by the Red King, Mikoto Suoh. He also discovers that the reason they're after him is because of his uncanny resemblance to the man who murdered one of their own members. Kuroh reminds Yashiro that he will kill him once they've finished eating, still believing him to be Tatara Totsuka's murderer. Yashiro denies this claim before he asking for seconds.[11]

SpeakingAboutClansAndKings

Yashiro being told about the Kings.

Once he's received another full bowl, Yashiro finally asks Kuroh as to why he would want to kill him. He is explained that it is because, as per the murder video, Yashiro is to be the next Colorless King but has been deemed evil; thus, he must be killed by the vassal of his planned predecessor. Yashiro fruitlessly argues further with Kuroh, before he would then ask about the Kings. Yashiro receives another explanation about them, discovering their immense power and authority over Japan. In relation, he hears more about the Red Clan HOMRA and its known Clansmen.[11]

YashiroStopsKurohAgain

Yashiro stops Kuroh yet again.

Yashiro, Kuroh and Neko give their thanks for the meal at the end of breakfast. Kuroh proceeds to kill Yashiro though he stops him again, persisting that he is innocent before making a request to have his words be tested. In response, Kuroh has him play a message on his recorder, stating that it has saved his life. Yashiro is relieved to hear that his request will be given. He asks again about Kuroh's recorder; once explained about its history and usage, he comments on how Kuroh is creepy.[11]

YashiroTryingToFigureOutAlibi

A distracted Yashiro in class.

The next morning, Yashiro awakens to see that Kuroh has prepared lunch for the day. While ogling the food, he notices a cleaning robot taking away his backpack. Yashiro tells it to stop but ends up being mistaken for trash, causing the robot to attack him. During class, instead of studying Yashiro writes down what he would put in his alibi. His teacher comes towards him to ask about Kuroh and Neko, to which he explains that they are supposed to be transfer students. Yashiro eats his lunch with Kuroh and Neko. Throughout most of the break, he attempts to analyze the video of Totsuka's murder, sent by Mishina to Kuroh's cell phone. However, he is unable to identify much from the blurriness in one of the video's screenshots.[12]

Impacient Kukuri

Yashiro in his outfit next to Kukuri.

Once the lunch break is over, Yashiro goes to change into his Feudal Japan outfit with Kuroh and Neko. While changing, he tells Kuroh that he can prove that he was on campus during that day, specifically within the hour of Totsuka's shooting. The three scavenge for information of the such across campus, from the student council's office to the courtyards near the clock tower. Eventually, Yashiro gets his proof from the teachers' office, where he asks for a log of the number of entries and leaves within school campus. Since his name is not on the list during that day, Yashiro believes that Kuroh can no longer hold it against him.[12]

Life Saver

Yashiro telling Kukuri that he owes her his life.

However, while getting a drink for Neko, Kukuri ends up revealing that he generally just sneaks out of campus, therefore bypassing the school's gates that log everything. As a result, Kuroh deems him insincere and prepares to kill him. Yashiro is protected by Neko, though he pushes her behind him to confront Kuroh himself. Yashiro argues that he can find an alibi that proves he was on campus during December 7–8. Sure enough, Kukuri reveals that she did see him on campus approximately 12:30 AM, proving his case. He celebrates happily and tells Kukuri that he owes her his life.[12]

YashiroFindsHisStainedShirt

Yashiro finds his bloodstained shirt in his closet.

Yashiro returns to his dormitory, where he comments on how exhausted he is. He goes into his closet to look for a shirt. When he finds one, he horrifically discovers that one of them is bloodstained, just like the ones in the shirt worn by Totsuka's murderer. Though horrified, Yashiro is approached by Neko, who notices that he feels uneasy. He states that she shouldn't worry, though wonders in shock whether he did kill Totsuka.[12]

Dazed Yashiro

Yashiro ponders about the bloodstained shirt.

Yashiro goes with Neko back to his classroom. There, he sits by a desk and wonders about his connection with Totsuka's murder. He is then told to help with the festival production, specifically to run more errands in the city. He has Kuroh and Neko accompany him along the way. The three take the secret exit beyond the school gate, where Yashiro explains that he lost his PDA; therefore, he can't exit normally. While walking along the bridge, Yashiro stops to look out the oceanic horizon.[13]

The three eventually stop at at a restaurant in the city. While he's dazing off, he is reminded by Kuroh that while he may not be proven guilty, there are still many suspicions surrounding him. Yashiro quietly agrees. He then notices a bulletin board next to him with several photos of his classmates on it. Yashiro asks the restaurant owner about them, pointing out that his own photo is nowhere on it.[8]

YashiroCallingHome

A worried Yashiro decides to call back home.

Once they've all eaten, they head to a store in the city to purchase the fireworks. However, Yashiro's poor penmanship makes it difficult for Kuroh to see what specifically they need to get, and so he decides to call Kukuri; because of this, Neko runs away from them. Yashiro uses Kuroh's cell phone to call Kukuri and ask her about the fireworks; however, Kukuri doesn't recognize him and eventually hangs up. Disheartened, Yashiro explains what happened. He then asks to call his family, wanting to be reassured that there are people who know who he is. Yashiro calls his home but an automatic dial informs him that he cannot contact the number.[8]

YashiroInTheRain

Yashiro asks Kuroh if he still plans to kill him.

Yashiro and Kuroh take a train to a soccer stadium, where Yashiro believes is where his house should be. He admits that it's possible that he may not be who he believes he is, and that Yashiro Isana might not even exist. As tears begin falling down his face, Yashiro wonders whether he actually is a murderer, and asks Kuroh if he still wants to kill him. He readies himself for death. Instead, he is left at a standstill when Kuroh plays a message from his old master. Yashiro wonders what Kuroh means with the message and is told that he will only kill him with certainty. In other words, until he is certain about his actions, he will not kill Yashiro, nor let him give up hope.[8]

YashiroStopsToLoookBack

Yashiro stops to look back at Kuroh's location.

A cheered-up Yashiro tries to speak when the headlights around the stadium suddenly flash at his location. Once the brightness has toned down to a more bearable level, members of the Scepter 4 force reveal themselves, telling Yashiro and Kuroh that they will be taken into custody. Yashiro suggests to surrender willingly but is ignored completely. He looks on as Kuroh and the uniformed people prepare for battle, only to soon discover that the terrain has changed completely.[7]

It is then that Neko arrives and takes Yashiro with her towards an exit. They are forced to stop by a blonde-haired woman and eventually her Captain, who dispels the landscape effects that are revealed to be of Neko's doing. Kuroh tells Yashiro and Neko to leave, even clearing an exit for them. Although reluctant, Yashiro leaves with Neko. However, while inside the stadium, he looks back towards Kuroh's location with concern.[7]

Yashiro's Key

Yashiro about to reveal the object in his hands.

Eventually, Yashiro decides to go back to the fields while cloaked in a white light and sees that Kuroh is pinned to the ground. He tells the man over him that he simply cannot let his friends get hurt. He then turns his attention to Kuroh himself. Yashiro apologizes for keeping secrets and exposes a white sphere in the palms of his hands, which hovers over him and transforms into a giant key-like object. His voice suddenly starts to reach out to Kuroh's thoughts. Yashiro exerts a white force from his body and counters against the Scepter 4 Captain's own Aura. Afterwards, he disappears.[7]

YashiroExperiencesAMemoryAgain

Yashiro remembers being kicked out of the Himmelreich.

Together with Neko, Yashiro leaves the stadium and eventually finds a beaten Kuroh inside an alley. Though worried, he is told not to be. As Kuroh slowly recovers, Yashiro begins to praise Neko for her efforts at the stadium. Eventually, he is told from Kuroh that Neko has the ability to manipulate memories, making Yashiro wonder if she can do anything about his. Kuroh reminds him that if his memories prove that he is actually an evil person, he will be killed, though Yashiro does not mind it. He tells Neko to reveal his true memories to him and she does so; although, Yashiro can only recall the night that he first met Kukuri. Yashiro asks for Neko to try and uncover his past from before then. She manages to show him his innermost memories from the same night: him being pushed off a blimp by a silver-haired man. Shocked, Yashiro wonders who he is.[7]

Underneath Bridge

Yashiro, Kuroh and Neko return to the school.

The following day, Yashiro rests underneath the bridge to Ashinaka High School with Kuroh and Neko. He ponders briefly when Neko happily states that they've "made it back" to their "home". While placing a hand don her head, Yashiro concludes that she is right, since the past few days with the students are real even if his memories of his past are not. He stands up and states that his purpose for returning, which he also just realized, is to engrave the place within his heart. Yashiro then adds that he needs to understand everything that he has been mislead about so that he can restart his life afresh.[14]

YashiroCallingMunakata

Yashiro manages to contact Munakata.

Yashiro, Kuroh and Neko later hide themselves in the back of a delivery truck. Using a stolen PDA of one of Scepter 4's members, thanks to Kuroh's help, Yashiro calls Reisi Munakata at 2:00 PM in the afternoon. Yashiro introduces himself and elaborates on why he is forced to contact Munakata through such an unorthodox method. Afterwards, he reveals his suspicions about "a man in an airship" whom he believes is heavily involves in Tatara Totsuka's murder. He later adds that he only knows enough about him from a "crash course". Yashiro listens and appropriately replies to Munakata's following responses. After a bit of talking, he proposes a deal with Munakata, saying that he will freely turn himself in should the "man in the airship" be brought to ground level. Munakata points out the flaws in his plans which Yashiro admits himself soon after. Nonetheless, Munakata agrees to the plan, should Yashiro and his two friends turn themselves in. Yashiro also discovers near the end of the call that the man in the airship is also known as the Silver King.[14]

YashiroChecksOutsideTheShip

Yashiro checks to see if no one is around.

Sometime after, Kuroh senses the presence of several Scepter 4 members, forcing the three to relocate. Before they do, Yashiro leaves behind the PDA but connects with a circuit board, hoping to mislead their pursuers even while they're gone. Yashiro, Kuroh and Neko then hide within the cargo of a ship down the river. He later exasperates about being hunted down even while speaking to their pursuers' leader. Yashiro speaks with Kuroh and Neko about the next steps to their plan. Then, at Neko's request, he explains his experimenting with the PDA from earlier.[14]

The three later follow Scepter 4 to a local airport during the night; there, they hide themselves near the runways. Yashiro concludes that they have been unable to contact the Silver King and are now using force to get their way. Yashiro, Kuroh and Neko swiftly take out a group of Blue Clansmen and board a helicopter they have planned to use. Then, with Kuroh as the pilot, they join the others in their destination towards the Himmelreich.[14]

Neko's Stupid Acts

A shocked Yashiro about to crash with Kuroh and Neko.

On the helicopter, Yashiro asks Kuroh about the Silver King, though he learns very little about him. Kuroh then brings up the issues with their plan but Yashiro is reassured that they will be able to escape with the Silver King swiftly. Then, due to Neko, the helicopter ends up flying uncontrollably towards the engine of the Himmelreich. Afterwards, their crash target suddenly explodes and engulfs in flames, which captivate Yashiro. Another explosion follows when their helicopter hits the Himmelreich directly. Following this, a massive silver-colored light shimmers in place of the explosion caused by both aircraft.[14]

YashiroUpsetToSeeHisRoomTrashed

Yasihiro returned to his now-trashed dormitory.

Luckily, all of them manage to survive the explosion without any injuries. They crash back into Shizume City and eventually learn that HOMRA has recently taken over Ashinaka High School, forcing the three to return. At night, they return to Yashiro's dormitory but discover that it has been completely charred and wrecked.[15]

Yashiro is shocked at the discovery and eventually grows depressed to have returned to a nearly-destroyed home. After some time thinking to himself, he decides that he needs to put aside his quest to remember his former self for the time being, and to clean up the mess left behind. Yashiro asks Kuroh whether they should "seek" out his former master's help. Instead, he is told that they already know what they need to do, and that they should leave so that they can save Kukuri and the other students. Yashiro agrees with Kuroh and they, along with Neko, head out to find Yashiro's former classmates.[15]

K: Missing Kings[]

No one knows of his location; not even his Clansmen Kuroh and Neko know where he is.

At the end of the movie, Anna gives Kuroh and Neko one of her marbles and it shows them Yashiro's image, with his back turned on them. For them, this confirms that he is alive and well.

Yashiro is shown next in the Schattenreich with Daikaku, whose whereabouts have been unknown since the beginning of the movie. Yashiro and Daikaku converse, talking of the world as they know it end. Daikaku regrets that he should die when the world is on the brink of change. As Daikaku says his final lines before death, Yashiro makes a resolve to finally play his part in the conflict that has developed in his absence.

K - Countdown[]

Yashiro wakes up in the Schattenreich

Yashiro wakes up in the Schattenreich after a long time of sleeping. He is greeted by the Gold King Daikaku Kokujōji, who was also missing in the events of K: Missing Kings. Daikaku tells Yashiro that he was the one who saved him after his body was destroyed by Suoh Mikoto, and that they are just passing by each other as he, the Gold King, will die soon.

After Daikaku's death, an Usagi comes to Yashiro's room to report that Daikaku's private funeral had finished. Yashiro expresses his desire to attend the funeral, but, as the Usagi pointed out, he was unable to because the jungle is targetting him. Yashiro then invites the Usagi into his room, saying that he feels like talking. Yashiro tells the Usagi what he had been doing, including countermeasures for jungle and resuming the research he abandoned 70 years ago. He also says that he had been making Daikaku take care of him till the end; the room he is using now and the dorm room he was using in the Ashinaka High School's dorms being given to him are all Daikaku's work. The Usagi reports that that dorm room is being used by Yashiro's Clansmen, Kuroh and Neko. Yashiro asks about them, and the Usagi tells him they are in good health, much to Yashiro's relief. They discuss about Daikaku's death and how it won't be announced soon, since they have to be careful—not only because of the Gold King's influence, but also regarding the issue with jungle. Yashiro laughs, saying that he is experiencing Daikaku's greatness again. The Usagi asked for confirmation about Yashiro and Daikaku being friends before Daikaku became a King, which Yashiro confirms, saying that back then Daikaku was only a Japanese soldier and that he himself was only a researcher. He says that, for him who only had his sister Klaudia, Daikaku might have been his first friend.

More about the slate

Flashback to Dresden of 1945. Adolf, who was sleeping on a couch, was woken up by Daikaku. Daikaku exasperatedly tells him that he sure loves sleeping, and Adolf apologizes and says that it's because he has been in the research facility the whole time. Daikaku tells him not to push himself, but Adolf says he has to. Daikaku reasons that, with the activation incident with the mice a few days ago making the HQ want to rush results, the stress has risen, but Adolf tells him it doesn't matter because the possibilities are right there in front of them. Adolf tells him that he wants to know more about the Dresden Slate, to end of those possibilities. Klaudia interrupts then, saying that Adolf almost looks like he is in love. She also tells him that it is okay to dream, but taking care of himself is more important. Daikaku proposes that they go out of the facility because being in there for too long is poison for the body.

They go out and eat, when Adolf says that Dresden is a beautiful city, but Daikaku says that that's only because the destruction of war hasn't reached the city yet. Adolf says that won't happen because Dresden is a cultural treasure and hasn't got conspicuous military value, but Daikaku counters that unpreparedness is one's greatest enemy and that—since they're in the middle of war—something like an attack on Dresden happening isn't strange. Adolf then says that war is stupid, and Klaudia scolds him. Daikaku tells him that, if there are results regarding the Dresden Slate research, it will be used compulsorily in the war, and that Adolf should continue with the research with that knowledge. Adolf then says that the Slate isn't restricted to that, as if it can produce a human ex-alpha, that human won't be degenerated to being a tool of war and that that human might rather that it end the war for them. Klaudia scolds him and pinches his side, saying that he's still a researcher employed by the army and under their supervision, so he can't say things like that without thinking. Daikaku says that a human ex-alpha leading companions with whom he distributed his power to is really a paranormal king, to which Adolf agrees. Adolf adds that that 'king' is someone who'll let possibilities bloom and bring prosperity. Daikaku says he's being too optimistic. Adolf then adds to his own statement that, if they have great power, those 'kings' might bring mayhem, or might pursue order; that that power may be used to protect others and change their current situation; that it is hiding all that it can become. Daikaku says that if an ex-alpha human were to be born, they'd be the first king to lead humanity to new horizons, and Adolf affirms this by saying that they will be humanity's dawn. Daikaku then tells him that he's an idiot, to Adolf's shock, which was backed up by Klaudia. Klaudia tells Daikaku that it's always been her job to clean up after Adolf and asks for Daikaku's help, to which the Lieutenant agrees.

Back to the present, Yashiro tells the Usagi that the Dresden Bombings occurred less than a month after that conversation, where he lost his sister and when he awakened as the Silver King. Yashiro also tells the Usagi that, after that, he who had such optimistic dreams about the Slate embraced despair and escaped to the sky, leaving Daikaku with various burdens that only he had to carry. Even though it might be a violation of the Usagi's rules regarding throwing away their 'name' and 'individuality', Yashiro asks the Usagi, which he knew was an old Clansman, if he had been with Daikaku's side for a long time. The Usagi responds by taking off his gold rabbit mask, surprising Yashiro, who asks if he is sure. The Usagi asks if he may speak not as an 'Usagi' but as a person who had been with his lord Daikaku for a long time. Yashiro tells him that he'd be happy to allow him to, and thanks him.

I'm glad I'm alive

The Usagi tells him of the time Daikaku had taken the Dresden Slate with him to Japan. The Usagi Yashiro is speaking to was, back then, a young heir of Kokujōji branch heir; he was placed under Daikaku, who was then the young head of the Kokujōji clan, as a spy for the older members of the Kokujōji clan. The old man told Yashiro of the story of how he found Daikaku in the room of the Slate, using his King powers; how Daikaku expressed to him his desire to "illuminate the country with a golden light." A few years after that, as the Usagi tells Yashiro, Daikaku came running up a hill. He followed his lord, and there they found an airship in the sky, the Himmelreich. Daikaku tells him of Adolf, the occupant of the German airship that had entered the Japanese airspace. He witnesses Daikaku (figuratively) telling Adolf that only he himself will be the ideal King, who doesn't see optimistic dreams, and that Adolf should watch until it happens. It was also on that day, that the Usagi pledged himself to become Daikaku's Clansman. The Usagi asks Yashiro if he had watched as Daikaku and his Clansmen illuminated the country and the people who grew in that country, to which Yashiro says that he did, that Daikaku carried out his dream, showing him both dream and reality for 70 years. Yashiro starts crying, which he says is no good and wipes his tears away. As the old Usagi straps his mask back on, he asks Yashiro why he does not allow himself to cry, when they were remembering a deceased friend. Yashiro is stunned. The Usagi then says that he has stayed for too long, and asks to take his leave. Yashiro thanks him again.

Yashiro then thinks back to the time he woke up at Schattenreich. He tells Daikaku of how, after 70 years, he had found people and places he wanted to protect. Daikaku tells him that that is good, for people who had something to protect were strong. Yashiro also tells him that, when he first awoke as the Silver King who had a body that won't change or die, he thought that he was glad to be alive. Daikaku smiles, and tells him that he had a satisfying life, and that it is now Yashiro's turn to live one—to confront "the time that stopped"—and that it's good to step forward once again.

Yashiro tells himself that he'll confront the power that the Slate created, stepping forward into the world Daikaku created, both as the First King and as Isana Yashiro.

K - Return of the Kings[]

Yashiro returns

Yashiro lands right in between Kuroh and Yukari.

Yashiro resolves to fix the conflict that had escalated in his absence, saying he won't run away anymore, and willingly falls off Schattenreich to Shizume Town.

He is shown next descending from the sky and landing right in between Kuroh and Yukari, interrupting their battle. Through Kotosaka, the Green King Nagare greets Yashiro and orders Yukari and Sukuna to retreat. When Yukari leaves, Yashiro then turns to the downed Kuroh, and asks if he can stand up. Kuroh was about to welcome Yashiro back, when Neko jumps on his back and onto Yashiro. She asks him where he was and why he didn't come back.

Yashiro makes contact with the Red King Anna and the Blue King Reisi—through their respective Clansmen Misaki Yata and Saruhiko Fushimi—and asks for a meeting. At the meeting, he reveals that the Gold King has died—the main reason why the Green Clan has become more active. He then proposes an alliance between the three Clans to defeat the Green King. Reisi promptly agrees, because Scepter 4 has worn themselves out trying to stop Jungle but to no avail. Anna also agrees, in spite of the fact that Reisi had killed Mikoto. Later, Yashiro also reveals that he knows all there is to know about Nagare from the Gold King's resources and personal accounts, and that the Gold King has died.

After the meeting, Yashiro talks with Reisi about the Dresden Slate, which was put under the Blue King's care after the Gold King's continued disappearance. He asks Reisi on how much he knows about the Slate, to which Reisi humbly replies that what he knows is certainly less than what the First King knows—but he has some idea about it. Yashiro then asks him if he intends to become the second Daikaku Kokujōji, but Reisi remains quiet. Yashiro tries to say that he can help Reisi watch over the Slate, but Reisi fires back a question at him, asking how can he entrust the Slate to someone who has run away once before. This silences Yashiro. Reisi tells him that his help is more than welcome if it's about the Green King, and leaves. He tells himself that he had it coming since it was true, then asks Kuroh and Neko ー who had been hiding during the whole conversation with the Blue King ー for their opinion. Kuroh is surprised that Yashiro knows they were there, and Neko asks if the 'boss with glasses' was being mean to him. Yashiro smiles and tells her it was nothing; that he made a promise not to run away anymore and confront things head-on.

The alliance holds another meeting to discuss their strategy. Yashiro acknowledges that each of them has misgivings about him leading the alliance and listens to the concerns put forward by both Kusanagi and Awashima. Both Red and Blue Clans eventually agree. Yashiro proceeds with the strategy discussion, stating that their foremost concern besides the Green King are JUNGLE's J-rank players, Mishakuji Yukari and Gojo Sukuna, since Nagare will only have a limited time to fight.

After discussing the strategy and almost everyone has left, Anna and Kusanagi approach him. Anna repeats that she will participate. Yashiro asks her to monitor the Blue King's condition, whose Sword has sustained damage from the burden of killing another King, Suoh Mikoto.

Yashiro, Kuroh and Neko wait at their designated floor, expecting Yukari to come their way as discussed in the strategy meeting. But Gojo comes instead of Yukari, and they engage the Green Clansman in battle. They easily subdue Gojo, eliminating him as a blockade runner for Nagare. They then proceed to meet up with Anna to stop Nagare. Passing by the destruction left by Nagare, Yashiro realizes that—instead of targeting him—Nagare is heading straight for the Slate, putting Anna in danger. They hasten to get to the top floor.

Yashiro wasn't able to do anything in the battle between the Tenkei Iwafune and Munakata Reisi, due to the Gray King's fog. He realizes too late that the roof has been blasted, which then became the way for the Gray King's escape with the Green King and the Dresden Slate.

After the alliance's failure to protect the Dresden Slate, Yashiro spends the next month working on a solution. From the documents Kusanagi turned over to him, which Yashiro says was the work of her sister and were stuck in a library until Kusanagi took them, he comes up with an idea.

While Nagare has all exits of Jungle's base sealed off except the Yomito Gate, the Silver Clan returns to the Schattenreich with the Red Clan. They then crash the blimp near the Yomito Gate, effectively ridding them of having to deal with the Green Clan's lower Clansmen. They proceed to infiltrate the base, with Kusanagi accompanying the Silver Clan only up to a certain floor. Yashiro and his Clansmen proceed heading toward the bottom level. On the way, they are intercepted by Yukari, and Kuroh tells Yashiro and Neko to go on.

Yashiro and Neko confront Nagare at the bottom level. Nagare tells him that his power as the Green King is now infinite, for he is connected with the Dresden Slate itself. He then attacks Yashiro with his Aura. Shortly after, Anna and the Red Clan successfully blast a hole through all the floors of the base, opening a clear path from the sky to the Slate. Yashiro points this out to Nagare, who realizes what Yashiro is planning to do—crashing his own Damocles Sword onto the Slate. Though Nagare cannot believe it, Yashiro assures him that he will do just that, and proceeds to increase his Weismann levels to the limit, making his Sword of Damocles begin to crack. Finally believing that Yashiro is serious, Nagare attacks him himself, stating that he would still have 10 seconds before the Silver King's Sword crashes to the ground—as he learned from the Red King's Sword crashing before it was cancelled by his death. Nagare succeeds in destroying Yashiro's Aura shield and knocks him off. Nagare moves to deliver the finishing blow to the downed Yashiro, but soon learns that he was attacking Neko's illusion, and that the unconscious Yashiro was in Neko's arms. Above, Yashiro's Sword begins to fall. Again, Nagare proceeds to attack, but was stopped by Kuroh. Yashiro regains consciousness, and throws a shield around himself and his Clansmen. Nagare, unable to break Kuroh's guard and Yashiro's shield, asks why they are so strong when they are refusing power. Behind him, the Silver King's sword finally crashes onto the Slate.

Yashiro unable to stand after the Damocles Down, was taken to a nearby alley by Kuroh. He explained to his Clansmen that the only reason he was able to utilize the body that the Colorless King had switched him with was because of the Silver King's power of Eternity. As the final remnants of his power fade away and he begins to lose consciousness again, he promises Kuroh and Neko he will return to them someday since he is their King. He is then expelled from the body of the young man he was possessing and returns to his original body as Adolf K. Weismann.

He later transfers to Ashinaka High School as a teacher and poses as a relative of Neko. He gains the nickname "Mr. German" from the students.

Power & Abilities[]

Silver Aura: Despite switching bodies with that of the Colorless King, Weismann retains the use of his Silver Aura. Through this Aura, Yashiro is granted the power over gravity manipulation where he can levitate himself or anyone he has synced his Aura with.[6] As the Silver King he gets a few other powers as well such as invulnerability, immortality.

Inviolability: The Silver King has the power of inviolability where any external influence would be rendered useless, the strength of this power is demonstrated when Shiro survived falling off the Himmelreich with only amnesia from when the Colorless King snatched his original body and when Kukuri Yukizome stabbed him, leaving only his uniform torn. The amnesia was simply due to the shock of getting his body stolen. This also seems to affect his original body even after being ejected from it, as it survived the explosion without a scratch. In the manga, he nullified Suoh's flame attack with ease.[6]

Immortality: The Silver King possesses absolute immortality; unable to die, age, become ill, or be permanently wounded or die due to natural causes. He's self-sustained, and as his mind and soul are as immortal as his biological body, he's immune to mental/spiritual damage. Any injuries he suffers immediately heal, even if he is disintegrated or blown up, he will still return to life. He always maintains perfect health and condition. However given his inviolability, he doesn't show his ability to heal. Despite this, as shown when he was stabbed, he can still feel pain even if it is momentary.

Intelligence: He possesses a powerful memory, as he was able to precisely and accurately recall events that happened nearly a century earlier with no trouble (he could even recite a quote he read once 80 years prior to the beginning of the story). He is very cunning, as he tricks Kuroh and later the Blue King. He is a brilliant scientist and strategist. He and his sister were the leading researchers on the Slate.

Expert Strategist: Shiro has demonstrated the ability to instantly devise a plan whenever he is cornered, such as when he was about to be killed by Kuroh Yatogami the first time they met.[10] Other examples would be when he devised a plan to make Reisi Munakata arrest Adolf K. Weismann, where it is actually only a distraction so he could meet the "Silver King" face-to-face.[14] He creates a plan to destroy the slate and a plan to work together with the Blue and Red clan to destroy the green clan.

Equipment[]

Wagasa: Yashiro carries a red wagasa with him at all times[9]; it is adorned with a 4-pointed dark green flower trimmed with gold near the ferrule. When he lost his memories, he claimed that it was something that his sister gave to him. In the crater created by the Red King's attack on both Yashiro and the Colorless King, the parasol was seen to be a bit damaged. Later, during the attack on Mihashira Tower by the Green and Gray Kings, Yashiro uses it to deflect the Gray Kings bullets; the bullets do not seem to damage the parasol.

Himmelreich: The blimp Adolf originally escapes to the sky with, after the death of his sister Klaudia. Adolf, as Isana Yashiro, was pushed off of it by the Colorless King. It crashed after the Colorless King, who took over Adolf's original body, sets of explosives inside the blimp when Scepter 4 attempted to bring the blimp back to the ground with Yashiro's urging the Blue King Reisi.

Schattenreich: The blimp in which the Gold King Kokujouji takes Yashiro after his last encounter with the Red King, and where Yashiro later wakes up after regenerating his body. It is also where Kokujouji took his last breath. Yashiro crashes it near the Yomito Gate during their attack on Jungle's base.

Trivia[]

Simg016

Adolf seemingly predicts powers / characteristics of 6 of the 7 Kings

  • His name Yashiro (社) means 'shrine'. His surname Isana (伊佐那, Isana) is derived from Izanagi (伊邪那 岐) and Izanami(伊邪那 美), the twin gods in Japanese mythology who gave birth to the many islands of Japan, hinting Yashiro's identity as the first and founder king
  • It is often forgotten that he is more than 90 years old.
  • His real name Adolf comes from the Germanic name Adalwolf, which meant "noble wolf" from the Germanic elements adal "noble" and wulf, indicating both his nobility and loneliness. Weissmann, ironically, translates to "man of white".
  • Yashiro has a habit of humming 'Ode an die Freude' when he is alone.
  • The fonts used in the cards are Aria Penci Roman (Yashiro) and Cold Night for Alligators (Adolf).
  • In K: Countdown, the possible effects / paths that a 'king' can take that Adolf and Daikaku discuss are actually what would become the powers/characteristics of 6 of the 7 Kings that the Dresden Slate later appoints. The 'prosperity' of the Gold King, the 'mayhem' of the Colorless King, the 'order' of the Blue King, the 'power to protect others' of the Red King, the 'change' of the Green King, and 'hiding all the things it can become' by the Gray King. The only characteristic Adolf doesn't get or say is the Silver King's 'eternity'.
  • Yashiro is the only king who is not an optional partner in Gakuen K: Wonderful School Days.
